This shot was taken today using my iPhone 4S at my favorite cafe, 드립하우스, and is easily one of the best shots I have taken recently. I’ve said ever since I got it, but the iPhone can really hold its own when the lighting is right.
When I shoot film, I often find myself unsure about when to take the shoot and when to turn it down, but I feel like I’ve been able to see that lighting can save a shot and also make those average shots into something much more special.
I’m going to be on the lookout for light and ask myself before every shot - “Where’s my light?” High-res

Connecting - A story about how I came to befriend a Korean cafe owner

Chances are that when you arrive in Korea for the first time, you won’t know anyone. This is often the case when you move to a new country and is made worse if you are not at least conversationally fluent in the native language. I certainly remember my first few weeks and even beyond - the culture shock and inability to properly communicate with people made it one of the most testing periods of my adult life.

The biggest change for me was my living conditions.
